SUSTAINABILITY IN (NEW) CONSTRUCTION
The focus of all projects in Frankfurt's property industry is also on ensuring that the development of the city is fit for the future and sustainable. Achieving carbon neutrality is crucial, especially as the construction and building sector is one of the main sources of carbon emissions. With almost 300 buildings certified as sustainable, or "green buildings", Frankfurt am Main is not just a pioneer in Germany, it is also making a decisive impact in this regard.
Digitisation is key to implementing carbon-neutral buildings and achieving energy efficiency targets. Frankfurt-based businesses operating in the PropTech sector will be showcasing a wide range of profitable technologies and solutions for optimising the carbon footprint of properties.
The latest project developments in the metropolis on the River Main are setting new sustainability standards and may even be able to draw on subsidies from the City of Frankfurt. An increasing number of renewable raw materials are being integrated, "biophilic" design is shaping buildings, rooftop gardens are being supplemented by increasingly innovative green facades – even the waste heat from data centres will be used to supply 100% of the heating requirements of a recently proposed commercial district.
